Okay, I don't know if this is a good thing to admit or not, but let me say, I have been learning a lot these days from an unexpected source...The Amazing Race. Yes, I have now become one of those people that allows media to "teach" them things. Really, I have always been that person I think. I mean, I definately learned the difference between true love and to blave as a child from a movie (Anyone? The Princess Bride), and I learned about the way we as humans make unbearable situations tolerable from the jockularity in M*A*S*H, but I have now taken a real jump and I am allowing a reality show teach me lessons about life! YIKES!
So, you are no wondering what lesson I have learned. Get ready - let go and have fun and the world will keep turning even without me trying to steer it. I know - a very earth shattering insight. Really, for those who don't know I have become a HUGE fan of The Amazing Race, and this season in particular has some characters that I find truly inspiring. These two guys, BJ and Tyler, are friends who met during a college-at-sea program and they are really fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants guys. Whatever happens, happens. Life is what you make it. You can't change it all so change what you can and don't worry about the rest...etc, etc. I watch them each week and see how they just have fun with this adventure. They don't let the small things get to them and they smile and joke around with everyone. By modern standards, this would mean that they aren't taking it seriously enough and they should be heading out of the race soon. However, they are at the top of the game, switching between 1st and 2nd place with two other laid back fellows. This defeats all US expectations of getting ahead in life. They are really enjoying life and yet, they are getting it done at the same time.
I need to live this philosophy more in my life. I encourage you all to do the same...just watch an episode to see what I mean...they are a hoot to watch!

Check it out!
Okay, so I am finally getting into the real technological world by starting a blog. I read a friends blog and decided that this would be something fun for me to experiement with so here I go.
Now the hard part...what to say...I guess I could start off with a simple explaination of my theme. At one point in time when I was young and foolish (oh wait, I still fit that description), I dreamed of being a Mary Kay National Consultant. I had just started selling the product and really thought I could make it all the way up. I set up a good goal-setting plan and laid out my track to get to my desired status. I even developed a name for my team and posted it where it would keep me motivated. Yep, Prairie Fires was the name. I thought it was catchy...maybe a little silly, but hey, that is me in a nutshell. Well, as you can tell, that dream as long since faded into the past as I soon learned that I am not a sales person at heart. Nonetheless, I still like the little name so I thought I could use it here. Maybe it will become the name of a little book I have thought about writing...who knows.
Well, that will be it for my first post. Just wanted to get it started. "See" you all again soon - really I guess, "see" you whenever you decide to come back and read what other pointless drivel I have written. :)
