We have officially added a new member to The Family! The Husband's youngest brother married his love of seven years this past weekend. Seven years sounds like a long time, but keep in mind that they are only 25...they just started dating young.
The Husband and I loaded up The Wee One and the car and headed off to Arkansas to play wedding. Wednesday I turned The Wee One over to The Husband and took off with The Girls for a day/night of bachelorette fun.
Of course, this was the only day out of the whole week that it rained. Figures, right?
Regardless of the weather, we had a blast! We started out nice and easy with a light lunch/dessert, a run by the mall to check out Victoria Secret's Miraculous Bra (check that out if you haven't - it can be quite funny), and then off to get manicures and pedicures. So far so good on the weather. Check into the hotel and hit the pool and hot tub. Lovely! Then the trouble with the restaurant began...
I was told to call the day of to make reservations so around 3 I call the restaurant and am told that I can't get a table for 8 because they are booked. Isn't that why people call in advance to make reservations? Hum....
Due to some slight issues getting the fun little veil to stay on her head, we were running late for our appetizers so we just went straight to the restaurant. When we got there, the hostess says "I think I can actually get you guys in the main dinning room." Great - what was the problem before? She runs back there to check on things and we hang out in the bar/casual dinning room. Then she comes back saying that she can't get us all together in the main dinning room, but she can help us pull tables together in the casual area. Then she jerks us around again and says, "Maybe I can get you guys in there if you are split up into two tables." Fine - go check. She comes back and says, "I can do it as long as you don't have anyone else join." We thought there might be 1 or 2 more so we just say forget it and took a table in the casual area. By this time I am practically starving and needing a drink! Fortunately, we had a wonderful waitress and the drinks were delicious. Dinner was yummy as well.
We were on Dickson Street in Fayetteville, AR. If you are ever there, go hang on Dickson...it is a really fun place. We headed for dessert and lingerie party at Common Grounds, and somewhere in there the rain started. The Newest Sister got some adorable stuff (I gave her a tie and stiletto heels...that's enough to get things going, right?). We had a few little games for her and we had a some drinks. Now, most of us are moderate drinkers so none of us were wasted, but since none of us drink much these days, it hit a little hard after a while. At some point we decided to find some karaoke...that's always a good time. I was super surprised to find that The Newest Sister really loved karaoke. I would never have guessed that! She was a hoot! Also found out that one of the other Sisters has some serious pipes - she rocked some serious Reba. By this point, the bride-to-be was really feeling her drinks and was taking breaks to get fresh air. Probably good that the bar shut down.
The bad thing was that when the bar shut down, the rain was coming down in sheets and we had a good trek back up the hill. We thought we'd see if one other place was still open so we literally ran through the parking lot and under a series of awnings to get to the top of the hill. Wow, am I ever out of shape. For some reason, I found this funny and could NOT stop laughing...that didn't help me run at all.
We got to the top and they too were closed. Apparently, everyone on the street was closing early - probably because it was a Wednesday night, raining buckets, and we were some of the only people out. So back into the rain...down the hill to the car. Lots of giggles again. Got back to the hotel, got the bride-to-be to her bed and then sent out for some IHOP. Delicious!
I was awakened in the morning to a shaking bed. Poor bride-to-be was feeling a little rough. Fortunately, it wasn't bad enough to ruin her day since she had a million things to get done. By noon she was pretty much back to normal. All in all, I think it was a great time. I know I had fun at least.
Kind of reminded me of my bachelorette party. We went to Lubbock to do wine tasting, but never made it to the wineries. There were only 5 of us who could make it and 2 of them were underage. We ended up doing lingerie stuff at the hotel and just spending time together while we got ready. Then the plan was to eat and then go bar hopping. Eating worked fine, but then the rain started and the bar hopping plan changed. We found one bar that looked good and just stayed there. One particular guy kept sending drinks to our table and since we had underage members there, we tried to be responsible...meaning those of us that were of age split the 5 drinks between the 3 of us. That got rough pretty quick. Had a great time, but paid for it later that night for sure. Wheew! Good times. Good times.
